The Inaugural 7 Egg Challenge of 2010

Here is the original email that started it all. I was making breakfast and the eggs just looked boring so I started drawing faces on them, half to amuse myself, and partly to make the next person who needed an egg smile. Then it kind of took on a life of it's own. This was fairly recent after the Kanye West / Taylor Swift PR debacle, so that's where the first one came from. The egg in the background says, "Imma gonna lechu finish"

Tired of the winter blues?
Dark mornings and evenings killing your creative spirit?
Have a camera, at least 7 eggs, and a few minutes to kill?

If you received this, it's not because I want to spam you. The people here were chosen because of one, some, or all of the following reasons:
1) I've seen you with a camera in your hand and/or seen pictures you've taken.
2) I know you've got a creative side and enjoy making fun where fun is not normally found.
3) You hate Kanye West as much as I do and hated him before hating Kanye West was cool.
4) You can appreciate the humor this event will cause.

The rules are simple:
1) Using only 7 eggs and whatever crafting skills, markers, paint, etc..., create a diorama depicting an event which tells a story. (You don't have to contain them in the egg crate... think outside the box!)
2) No couples submissions. Everyone has to take credit for their own work.
3) You can't explain it in your email post, the picture will do the story telling.
4) Reply to this message with either GO or DROP in your response.
5) Simply reply all to the "GO"** email with your picture attached and saved in .jpg, .png, or .gif format.

**I want to give people a chance to drop out from receiving a bunch of email to clutter their inboxes or to provide an alternate email if they choose, so after I receive either a GO response from you indicating you either want to submit or receive these pictures, or a DROP response to remove you from this list, I will send out the "7 Egg Challenge: GO" email to the updated list.

Happy Egg Shooting!

This was shortly followed up by another email closer to the deadline peppered with egg puns.

You thought I forgot? Well, now who's got egg on their face?

Okay, those who have chosen to Humpty-dump off the list have been dropped. Those who didn't respond were left on, but if you'd like out now, I will remove you via horses and men... or the delete key.

The
7 Egg Challenge is ON! So, use the time between now and midnight Monday, March 29th to create your picture worth a thousand words and email it back to me. I will use the week of Good Friday to compile the submissions and email out the summary of photos to those wishing to receive them. If I have time, I might create a website to display your egg-cellent work. I thought this might be preferable to everyone emailing everyone in a massive scrambled mess. If you wish to remain anonymous, I will leave your name off your photo, but all others will be tagged with the submitters name.

The theme is completely up to you and does not have to be Kanye-centric in nature. It was just a lame
egg-xample. Use paints, markers, stains, fabric, paper mache, glitter (Twilight spoof anyone?) Peeps as co-star egg-stras... just as long as you use 7 eggs anything goes.

Have fun and happy shooting!

Please see the next post for the results. Note: No prizes are being awarded, there is no money on the line, and people just did this for fun on a whim. You've got to love random creativity.
